Three Healthy Smoothies for Summer

Guys, it's summer and it's HOT. But nothing an icy, refreshing, and healthy smoothie can't alleviate. I don't know when I started this routine, but Chris and I make smoothies pretty much every morning now. And when it's hot outside, I love to whip up a slushy, healthy treat as an afternoon pick-me-up that doesn't have all the sugar and poison that a soda or icy caffeinated creamy coffee beverage has. (God bless Chick-Fil-A and their heavenly frozen coffees.)

I like to start my day with a green smoothie (gotta get those veggies in), and if I'm feeling the mid-day slump, I'll concoct one of the more creamy, sweeter ones in the afternoon. These are all sugar free (only natural sugar from the fruit), so they have just enough natural sweetener to give them a nice smooth taste.

So if you're an icy drink fanatic like me, feel free to pin this post and add these healthy smoothies to your collection. For all recipes below, just mix the ingredients in a blender on high, then serve and enjoy. Each smoothie recipe makes 2 servings.

  • Large handful of kale
  • Large handful of spinach
  • 1 banana
  • 1/2 cup frozen mangos
  • 2 cups almond coconut milk

  • Large handful of kale/spinach mix
  • 1/2 cup frozen berries
  • 2 cups almond coconut milk
  • 1/2 cup leftover baked sweet potato
  • 1 banana

  • 2 cups almond coconut milk
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter (or almond butter)
  • 3 Tbs unsweetened coco powder (to taste)
  • 1 banana
  • 2 cups of ice
